American Lung Association meets BBB Wise Giving Alliance Standards

NYS Thoracic Society

The New York State Thoracic Society was founded in 1950 as the New York Trudeau Society.  It was named after Edward Livingston Trudeau, MD, who was the first American investigator to culture the causative agent for tuberculosis (tubercle bacillus). The Society honors his name through a lectureship at its annual meeting in January. The society's Chapter Administrator is located at the American Lung Association of New York's offices in Albany, which also provides administration.

The Society is overseen by an Executive Committee comprised of its officers and committee members. The Executive Committee conducts the ongoing Society business during the year. The American Lung Association of New York serves as the fiscal agent for the Society.

The Scientific Assembly is an annual event sponsored by the NYS Thoracic Society and the American Lung Association of NY.  The annual Assembly gives members the opportunity to interact with colleagues away from the demands of their practices and work settings. It is accredited through the American Thoracic Society.

Starting in 2006, the New York State Thoracic Society awards the presitigous Outstanding Clinician Award to recognize clinical practitioners of pulmonary, critical care or sleep medicine for their outstanding clinical and selfless care of patients.
