Camp SuperKids Provides Summer Fun for Children with Asthma

This year's Camp SuperKids will be held from Monday, August 11 to Friday, August 15, 2008 at Fairview Lake Camp in Newton, NJ. For more information and to request an application, click here. Space is limited, and registration deadline is July 15.

Lung Association's 2008 State of the Air Report Chronicles Unhealthy Ozone, Soot Levels

4-9-2008: Lung Association Commends Governor Paterson and Legislature for Increasing the State Cigarette Tax by $1.25. New York now has the highest tax of any state in the nation. For the release, click here.

The American Lung Association of the City of New York Awards Research Grants

Congratulations to the following two researchers who have been awarded ALACNY research grants! Grants for their work in the arena of pulmonary health will begin in July 2008.
-Daniel Jeremy Kass, MD, Columbia University Medical Center: Dr. Kass will be researching pulmonary fibrosis, a condition in which scar tissue builds in the lungs, impairing their ability to function.
-Rui Jian, MD, PhD, Columbia University Medical Center: Dr. Jian will be investigating cured meat and its impact on lung health.
